The Philippine Army is one of the most trusted and top-performing government agencies in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to the Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey results reported by OCTA Research on Saturday.

The survey found that a significant majority (78%) of adult Filipinos were satisfied with the Philippine Army and its overall accomplishments, while two percent were dissatisfied, resulting in a net satisfaction rating of +76.

Further, a significant majority (77%) of adult Filipinos said they trust the Army, while only 2% distrust it, delivering a net trust rating of +75.

“The survey results reported here are part of a broader study of the country’s security sector. The results presented here are commissioned by the Philippine Army and focus on the public perceptions of the Philippine Army,” OCTA Research said.

In terms of major geographic areas, the Philippine Army’s net satisfaction rating was consistently high, having the highest rating in Visayas (+84).

Mindanao was a close second +82, followed by National Capital Region +79, and Balance Luzon (areas in Luzon outside of the Greater Metro Manila area) at +72.

Among socioeconomic classes, its net satisfaction ratings were highest in Class E (+80) but lowest in Class ABC (+68).

The overall net satisfaction rating “hardly moved” from +78 in August 2024 to +76 in November 2024.

By socioeconomic class, a significant drop of 15 points was registered in Class ABC, and a slight decrease of two points in Class D.

Its net satisfaction rating dropped in Balance Luzon and Mindanao by seven and three points, respectively.

Meanwhile, these figures sharply rose in the National Capital Region by 23 points and in the Visayas by 7 points.

During times of disasters

OCTA Research’s survey fieldwork was held from November 10 to 16, 2024 through face-to-face interviews.

Heading into and during the survey period, the Philippines was ravaged by a series of powerful tropical cyclones including Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (Trami), Leon (Kong-Rey), Marce (Yinxing), Nika (Toraji), and Ofel (Usagi).

The Philippine Army plays a critical role in disaster response and relief efforts during these weather disturbances.

A total of 1,200 male and female probability respondents aged 18 and above were interviewed for the study.

It has a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95% confidence level.

Subnational estimates for the geographic areas covered in the survey have the following margins of error at a 95% confidence level: ±6 percent for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
