MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has attributed the Philippines’ “unprecedented climb” in the 2024 United Nations e-Participation Index (EPI) to the eGovPH Super App, the government’s mobile platform.
In the latest EPI rankings, the Philippines surged 31 spots, from 80th in 2022 to 49th this year.
“This is a testament to the nation’s remarkable progress in leveraging ICT to revolutionize citizen engagement and elevate public service delivery to global standards,” the DICT emphasized in a statement.
DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy said that at the forefront of this digital transformation is the eGovPH Super App, “a cutting-edge, all-in-one platform enabling Filipinos to access local and national government services directly from their mobile phones.”
The app has streamlined the “once-complicated processes into user-friendly solutions, from renewing business permits and generating digital national IDs to paying for clearances.”
Uy said the DICT’s mission is encapsulated in a simple yet profound statement: “Why fall in line when you can go online?”
“This achievement is not just a rank; it’s a reflection of our unwavering commitment to breaking down bureaucratic barriers and ensuring that every Filipino has access to efficient, transparent and inclusive government services,” he added.
The DICT chief noted that the e-government initiatives are “designed to transform the way Filipinos interact with their government, eliminating red tape and fostering trust through accountability and innovation.”
Since its launch in July 2022, the eGovPH Super App has garnered over nine million active users, saving citizens countless hours, reducing costs and simplifying access to essential services.
The DICT also said that its relentless pursuit of innovation has resulted in the development of 25 digital platforms, with 20 already operational, including the eTravel, which facilitates paperless entry and exit for over 35.6 million users; eLGU, which empowers 900 local government units to streamline their processes; eNGA (national government agencies), which integrates 75 national government systems and eReport, which enables citizens to swiftly report crimes, emergencies or provide feedback on government services.
These platforms are designed to cut through red tape, connect fragmented systems and address long-standing inefficiencies in governance.
