The Philippine National Police Internal Affairs Service (IAS) has started its motu proprio investigation into the police officer who was involved in a fatal shooting incident in Negros Occidental on Christmas Day.
IAS Inspector General Atty. Brigido Dulay said that they will not tolerate any police abusing or breaching their duty to protect the people, according to a report on Super Radyo dzBB by Mark Makalalad.
The suspect, Police Corporal Armen Alanza, was put under hospital arrest following the killing of 22-year-old Joman Fuentes on Christmas due to an alleged altercation. The victim was shot in the chest near the basketball court in Barangay Canjusa in the municipality of Pulupandan.
Alanza, who sustained head wounds, is facing homicide and frustrated homicide charges. He said he also plans to file physical injury charges against the victim’s companions. —Giselle Ombay/KG, GMA Integrated News
