THE Quezon City government has encouraged taxpayers to pay their realty tax in full until December to get a 20-percent discount.
City treasurer Edgar Villanueva told the members of the Quezon City Press Club that the discounted payment was in accordance with an ordinance that gives taxpayers a 20-percent discount upon full payment of their annual real-estate taxes on or before Dec. 31.
He said that those who will pay in full their basic real property tax and the additional tax accruing to the Special Education Fund and barangay share for the following taxable year on or before the end of the month will get the discount.
“Pay early to get a discount,” he said.
Also, a 10-percent discount is granted upon full payment of the 2025 real-property tax from Jan. 1 until March 31, he said.
However, the city official clarified that no discount shall be given to tax payment on a staggered or installment basis.
Mayor Joy Belmonte signed the measure in July 2023 and announced the implementation of updated discounts for payments of real property tax.
“The Belmonte administration can assure the QCitizens that their taxes would be properly used for various projects and programs, health care, social services and infrastructure projects,” Villlanueva said.
Taxpayers may also settle their obligations with convenience through the City Treasurer’s satellite offices and branches even inside big malls.
