The House Quad Committee (QuadComm) is set to propose criminal and administrative charges against approximately 10 individuals in connection with drug war deaths during the administration of former  President Rodrigo Duterte and crimes linked to Philippine Offshore  Gaming Operators (POGOs).

“That [list of individuals found liable] is going to be a surprise,” said QuadComm Lead Chairperson Ace Barbers of Surigao del Norte.

Barbers hinted that key agencies such as the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Office of the  Ombudsman, and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) would likely be in the QuadComm’s progress report.

“That’s a tip of the recommendations we will report next week,” he added.

Barbers also confirmed that the QuadComm’s progress report, which will include its initial recommendations, is set to be delivered during a plenary session next week.

“[The number of individuals recommended for charges] is less than 15, maybe close to 10,” he said.

The representative added that among those they would recommend to be charged with criminal and administrative cases were individuals still in active public service, as well as those who were retired or recently retired from government.

He declined to provide specific details about the cases, stating, “If I tell you the cases, then you will already find out. So I will keep it to myself  for the moment.”

In addition to recommending charges, Barbers revealed that the QuadComm would propose 15 pieces of remedial legislation.

These proposals are based on findings from the committee’s 12-day investigation into drug war deaths and  POGO-related crimes.

“We have more than 15 new remedial laws [to propose], all of which are a product of our investigation,” Barbers said. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
