MANILA, Philippines — Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) has announced key leadership changes, including the appointment of Reginaldo Anthony Cariaso as deputy chief executive officer (CEO), effective Jan. 1, 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange yesterday, RCBC said Cariaso would assume as deputy CEO to help boost the bank’s leadership as it focuses on digital transformation and expansion initiatives.
Cariaso is currently the bank’s executive vice president and group head of operations.
Prior to his career with RCBC, Cariaso was the senior vice president and head of corporate banking strategy, products and support at the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) from May 2019 to November 2023.
He was also the president of BPI Capital and chairman of BPI Securities from January 2013 to May 2019. Before this, Cariaso was an executive director for Nomura International from 2010 to 2012 and JP Morgan from 1996 to 2008.
Cariaso graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry.
The bank has also confirmed a series of other leadership appointments as part of its organizational restructuring.
Juan Gabriel Tomas IV has been named group head of operations to succeed Cariaso. Tomas is currently the chief risk officer and group head of risk management.
Bennett Santiago, executive vice president of the bank and head of the credit management group, will succeed Tomas as chief risk officer and group head of risk management.
Elizabeth Coronel, executive vice president and current head of the corporate banking group, has been appointed as group head of institutional banking.
She is tasked to oversee the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Banking Group and the Corporate Banking Group. This appointment is also effective Jan. 1, 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.
Anna Christina Vicente, current head of the SME Banking Group, will be resigning from the bank on Jan. 1, 2025.
RCBC also announced changes in its thrift bank subsidiary, Rizal Microbank Inc.
Simplicio dela Cruz, Jr., division head for SME Central and Eastern Visayas, has been seconded to Rizal Microbank as president and CEO.
Ismael Reyes, the current president and CEO of Rizal Microbank, will transition to the Office of the RCBC president and CEO, where he will oversee the bank’s retail and microbank transformation efforts.
Additionally, the bank appointed Sheila Ricca Dioso, currently chief audit executive and head of internal audit group, as chief compliance officer and head of regulatory affairs group.
