MANILA, Philippines — The convergence of the hot and cold air or the shear line will be affecting Metro Manila and other Luzon areas over the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Tuesday.
The same weather system is also bringing overcast skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Bicol Region, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Bulacan and Aurora, weather specialist Patrick del Mundo said.
The Pagasa forecaster said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) – where winds from the southern and northern hemisphere meet – is affecting Zamboanga del Norte and Palawan where cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms would prevail.
Meanwhile, “amihan” or the northeast monsoon has been affecting Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao where overeat skies with rains would be likely, the state-run weather agency said.
It (amihan) also brings isolated rains over Ilocos Region and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Luzon, according to Pagasa’s 5 a.m. advisory.
The rest of the country will be experiencing isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms, it added.
