THE Department of Energy (DOE) announced that, for November, it has issued certificates of endorsement (COE) to six power plant projects for approval by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
Of the six COEs, four are new ones while two are for amendments. Two of the four new projects are diesel plants, while the other two are solar plants.
These are the Aborlan diesel peaking power plant in Palawan and the Santa Fe diesel power plant in Romblon; and the Lumbangan Solar Project in Batangas, as well as the Samelco II-Paranas Solar Project in Samar.
The projects for amendments are the Malita Circulating Fluidized Bed coal-fired power plant in Davao Occidental and the Zumarraga Diesel Power Plant in Samar.
On a year-to-date basis, the DOE has issued 138 COEs to the ERC.
A COE is a requirement for the operation of proposed, existing or newly built power generation facilities.
In October, the DOE issued 15 COEs for energy projects to the ERC — six are conventional power projects, eight renewable energy projects and one is an energy storage system.
