Household workers in Metro Manila and Northern Mindanao are set to receive higher pay after their respective regional wage boards granted salary hike to take effect starting next month.
The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) has approved Wage Order No. NCR-DW-05 issued by Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) National Capital Region granting a P500 monthly increase for kasambahays across the region.
“This will bring the sector’s monthly minimum wage to P7,000,” the Department of Labor and Employment said.
The NWPC also affirmed the wage order issued by the RTWPB Region X, approving a P1,000 increase for kasamabahays to bring their monthly minimum wage to P6,000.
A P23 hike for the minimum wage in the non-agriculture sector, and P35 for the agriculture sector to be released in two tranches was likewise granted by the RTWPB.
Upon full implementation, the minimum wage rates in Northern Mindanao will increase to P446 to P461.
In May, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said some regional wage boards will begin the review of wage orders after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered a revisit on the minimum wage rates in every region.
Laguesma previously said the DOLE is expecting all RTWPBs across the country to finish their review before the end of the year.
Meanwhile, the DOLE said RTWPB V deferred the minimum wage determination process in the Bicol Region due to the impact of Tropical Cyclone Kristine which left the region in a state of calamity. It will resume the process as soon as circumstance permits or in February 2025.
