An 11-year-old boy died after he was hit by a car while crossing a road in Sta. Maria, Bulacan on the evening of December 28.

According to Jaime Santos’ report in “Saksi” on Wednesday, the vehicle’s driver did not stop to help the victim and just sped away.

(I saw my brother already in a very weak state. I did not wait for the ambulance, I immediately rushed him to the hospital.)

Two days after the accident happened, the young boy died. His family was devastated by what happened, especially his mom.

(It’s very hard for me to accept what happened, especially that it is New Year. I’m not sure if this will be a happy new year for us knowing that we lost a sibling.)

The suspect remains at-large, but the victim’s brother said they were able to recover a piece of a glass shard from the car where the RFID sticker is placed. The family was also able to get CCTV footage of the car speeding towards Sta. Maria.

The Sta. Maria Police Station had refused to give a comment as the investigation is still ongoing, but agreed to coordinate with the management of the North Luzon Expressway as they are currently searching for CCTV footage in the area.

(To the suspect, please surrender and cooperate with us. Even though it was just an accident, I wish you did not run away.) — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BAP, GMA Integrated News
