MANILA, Philippines — Amid the three weather systems that bring scattered and isolated rains, a storm over the next five days is unlikely, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tuesday.
Weather specialist Cheney Dominguez said in a 5a.m. briefing fthe shear line or the convergence of hot and cold air has been continuously affecting Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) and Quezon where overcast skies would prevail.
“Flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains would be possible in these areas,” the Pagasa forecaster said.
The easterlies – winds coming from the east and passing through the Pacific Ocean that carry humid and warm weather – would be experienced over Caraga and Davao Region.
Another weather system, the northeast monsoon or “amihan,” will be bringing cloudy skies with rains over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Rizal in 24 hours, the national weather agency said.
Over the rest of Luzon, amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
The rest of the country, the state-run weather bureau said, would be experiencing isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the easterlies.
