The Department of Health (DOH) said Wednesday it logged 33 new road traffic incidents amid the New Year revelry, bringing the total caseload this holiday season to 529.

The 529 cases recorded from December 22, 2024 until 6 a.m. of January 1, 2025 were 31% higher compared to the cases recorded during the same period last year.

Six people were killed this holiday season due to road crashes, four of whom died due to motorcycle accidents.

For those hitting the road after the holidays, the DOH reminded them to always wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle and use a seatbelt when driving or riding a car.

The agency also advised not to drive when intoxicated, always follow speed limits and road signs, and ensure that drivers have 7-8 hours of sleep before hitting the road.

Motorists who encounter road accidents may call 911 emergency hotline or 1555 DOH emergency hotline. —RF, GMA Integrated News
