Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa on Saturday urged the House Quad Committee (QuadComm) to focus its investigation into the spread of crimes in the country instead of “detaining former and current officers who are serving the land in good faith.”
(That is what the QuadComm should investigate: those kinds of incidents, why the criminals who are confident enough to shoot the police are increasing… not the police officers who are doing their job.)
He cited the case of former Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) chief Wilkins Villanueva, who was cited in contempt over his alleged refusal to answer questions during a QuadComm hearing last December 12.
Abang Lingkod party-list Representative Stephen Paduano made the motion after Villanueva repeatedly denied his involvement in the alleged warrantless arrest of Jed Sy, wife of drug personality Allan Sy, around two decades ago.
(This is why criminals, drug pushers, and drug lords are getting more confident, because they have no one to fear. They aren’t scared of the authorities any longer because the QuadComm are oppressing the authorities.)
(There is now an increasing number of addicts, while the pushers, drug lords, and carnappers are getting more confident.)
The QuadComm investigated the deaths linked to former President Rodrigo Duterte’s anti-illegal drugs campaign and the crimes linked to the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
Last December 18, the QuadComm recommended the filing of charges against several personalities, including Duterte, Dela Rosa, who served as national police chief in the previous administration, and Go.
Bato had previously condemned the probe, stating that it may be used against them at the International Criminal Court (ICC). —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
