Barangay Ginebra import Justin Brownlee may have had an outing close to his usual numbers, but he admitted being under the weather during their 93-81 win against San Miguel in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday.
Brownlee registered 19 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and a steal as Ginebra improved to 5-2.
“Yeah, just a little bit under the weather, I guess maybe a flu-like thing was going around during the holidays. So a couple guys on the team caught it as well over the break and then, unfortunately for me, I just caught it, you know, I guess at the wrong time. So that’s all it is, I guess,” Brownlee said on Sunday.
“The trainers and staff have been doing a great job. So hopefully the next day or two, it’ll just pass through.”
Despite the win, Brownlee still credited the Beermen for giving them a challenge.
“San Miguel is a tough opponent and we knew that coming in. You know, just got to give a lot of credit to the staff, they had a great game plan. We executed the best way we can. It just seemed like we had all the answers to the test. You know, we just got to credit that to the coaching staff and the great job they did as far as scouting and giving us the right direction.”
