Congress allots P7.7B to modernize airports

HOUSE Appropriations Committee Vice Chairman and Makati City Rep. Luis Campos said P7.7 billion was allotted for the modernization of 15 airports in the country under the Aviation Infrastructure Program.

“We are counting on these upgrades to enhance the overall air travel experience for passengers, attract more tourists, support the growth of small businesses, and create new jobs,” Campos added.

Aviation infrastructure funds were primarily used to construct, rehabilitate, and improve runways, taxiways, ramps, control towers, and passenger terminals and acquire navigational equipment.

Campos said the allocations were itemized under the 2025 budget: Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Tacloban City (P2.3 billion), Pag-asa Island Airport (P1.65 billion), Francisco B. Reyes Airport in Busuanga (P1 billion), Laoag International Airport (P750 million), Bacon Airport in Sorsogon (P360 million), Virac Airport in Catanduanes (P280 million), Candon Airport in Ilocos Sur (P250 million), New Dumaguete Airport (P200 million), New Manila International Airport (P200 million), Camotes Airport (P200 million), Camiguin Airport (P180 million), New Zamboanga International Airport (P130 million), Central Mindanao (M’lang) Airport (P100 million), New Bohol Airport (P52.1 million), and Bukidnon Airport (P50 million).
