DEPARTMENT of Agriculture (DA) Undersecretary Deogracias Victor Savellano passed away at age 65. He is survived by his wife, actress Dina Bonnevie.
Savellano’s death was announced by the National Tobacco Administration (NTA) on their Facebook page.
Savellano served as the DA undersecretary for livestock from July 2023 until his passing. He was also an oversight official of the NTA and the presiding official of the agency’s governing board.
Before that, he was the representative of the 1st District of Ilocos Sur from June 2016 to June 2022. He also served as the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives from August 2019 to June 2022.
He served several terms as the governor and vice governor of Ilocos Sur and six years as the vice mayor of his hometown of Cabugao, also in Ilocos Sur.
The NTA expressed its condolences to Savellano’s family and thanked the former official for his contributions to the agency and to the lives of tobacco farmers.
Savellano and Bonnevie married in 2012.
