The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for entrepreneurial training and support for productive reintegration of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

The agreement allows both DMW and DTI to help OFWs and their families with micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“The shared vision of this MOA (memorandum of agreement) pushes for an empowered MSME sector. This resonates well with DMW’s agenda about digitalization and innovation efforts to improve OFW services,” said DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac.

“An empowered MSME sector means a healthy and conducive environment for entrepreneurship which augurs well for OFWs interested in having their own business,” Cacdac added.

The DTI will assist in promoting investment options for OFWs and support access to financial support through government and private institutions, while the DMW will be in charge of identifying and maintaining a database of qualified beneficiaries.

“Through this partnership with DMW, we aim to further empower our OFWs and their families by equipping them with the necessary tools and opportunities to become successful entrepreneurs. We firmly believe that prioritizing our FWs is not just an investment in their future, but also in the future of our nation,” added DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque
