MANILA, Philippines — In light of the significant turnout for the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) National Peace Rally at the Quirino Grandstand on Monday, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) said extensive emergency response measures have been implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of the attendees.
As of 9 a.m. the INC rally has drawn an estimated 800,000 participants.
The Manila DRRMO confirmed the implementation of extensive measures to manage the event effectively. Supporting these efforts are 17,000 INC Emergency First Responders deployed for medical aid and logistical support.
To bolster the response, the Manila DRRMO mobilized 120 personnel, who will work alongside specialized teams such as the Philippine Army’s 525th Engineer Combat Battalion. These urban search and rescue units have been stationed to address potential emergencies swiftly.
The rally’s security has been reinforced with 5,000 officers from the Philippine National Police and 1,200 personnel from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority. Together, they are tasked with maintaining order and assisting with crowd management to ensure the peaceful conduct of the event.
Despite the scale of the gathering, no injuries or missing persons have so far been reported. The Task Force Tigil Pasada has also been activated to address potential transportation concerns
