(UPDATE) A FIRE of still undetermined origin hit a commercial building near the Manila Cathedral along Gen. Luna Street, Intramuros, Manila, on Saturday.
The City of Manila’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) said the fire began at about 8:05 a.m. at first alarm and raised to second alarm a minute later.
At 9:01 a.m., the fire was placed under control before it was declared fire out at 9:10 a.m. by the Manila DRRMO and the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Officials of the La Cathedral Café, which occupies the fire-hit building, confirmed their business was impacted by the fire and will be temporarily closed.
“Due to an emergency fire situation in our building, we regret to inform you that our restaurant will be closed for the day. The safety of our employees and customers is our top priority, and we are currently working with authorities to resolve the situation,” the restaurant informed customers on Saturday.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and will keep you updated on further developments. Please feel free to reach out via email or phone for any urgent matters, and we will respond as soon as possible,” they added.
La Cathedral Café is known for being a restaurant and an events place.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
