The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday recorded 32 new road traffic incidents for the holiday season, raising the number to 638.

Of the 638, 117 were due to drunk driving, 553 were not using safety accessories, and 452 were motorcycle accidents.

Casualties remained at seven, where four were due to motorcycle accidents.

The total figure was gathered from the eight pilot sites monitored by the DOH covering the period of December 22, 2024 up to 6 a.m. of January 4, 2025.

“PAALALA LALO NA NGAYONG WEEKEND—WAG MAGMANEHO NANG NAKAINOM NG ALAK Sa kabila ng paulit-ulit na paalala, marami pa rin ang nagmaneho nang nakainom sa kabila ng panganib nito,” the DOH warned.

(Reminder, especially this weekend: avoid drink driving. Despite repeated reminders, many people still drink and drive despite its dangers.)

The DOH also urged the public to do the following:

  • Remind their relatives and loved ones to avoid driving while under the influence of alcohol.
  • Wear safety gears including helmet and seatbelt before driving
  • Be disciplined while on the road. Follow the traffic rules and road signage.
