Senatorial aspirant Jimmy Bondoc on Tuesday said he backs the use of confidential and intelligence funds (CIF) for some government offices, including the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
Bondoc, one of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Board of Directors under the Duterte administration, said the budget is vital in addresing security-related issues in the country.
However, he clarified there should be a limit to the funding.
“Kailangan ng confidential funds dahil may mga kalaban tayo. Kailangan ng intelligence funds tsaka confidential funds,” Bondoc told Super Radyo dzBB’s Ikaw Na Ba? Senatorial Interviews.
(We need CIF because we have enemies.)
“What we have to do is to limit it…Wag tanggaliin. Number two, to clarify the use,” Bondoc added.
(But we have to do is to limit and clarify its use.)
Bondoc is gunning for a Senate seat in the 2025 May elections. He vowed to open a legislative inquiry into the increasing electricity rates if elected.
In 2017, Bondoc became the vice president for corporate social responsibility of the PAGCOR. He was later appointed as a member of the board of directors of PAGCOR.
