Magat Dam continues to release water

One gate at the Magat Dam, located between Ifugao and Isabela, remained open on Monday morning to release water, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

As of 8 a.m., the gate opening at Magat Dam was at 2.0 meters, freeing water 573.89 cubic meters per second (CMS).

It currently has a 190.94-meter reservoir water level (RWL), a decline from Sunday’s 191.62 meters. Its normal high water level (NHWL) is at 193.00 meters.

Meanwhile, gates that were previously open at Ambuklao and Binga Dams, both located in Benguet province, were already closed as of Sunday, January 5.

Ambuklao Dam’s RWL has slightly increased from 751.28 meters to 751.39 meters, as compared to a 752-meter NHWL.

Binga Dam, on the other hand, now has a 574.51-meter RWL, lower than the previous 574.53 meters. It has a 575-meter NHWL.

Based on PAGASA’s weather forecast, the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan), shear line, and Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring rains over parts of the country on Monday.—Giselle Ombay/AOL, GMA Integrated News
