MANILA, Philippines— Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday held a virtual meeting with United States President Joe Biden and Japan Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru where they all vowed to deepen ties between the three countries.
During their trilateral phone call, the three leaders committed to continue working together to enhance and deepen ties, particularly in the areas of economic, maritime, and technology cooperation.
“I am confident that our three countries will continue to work together closely to sustain the gains that we have made in enhancing and deepening our ties,” Marcos said.
Areas of interest include inclusive economic growth and resilience, crucial and emerging technologies, climate cooperation and clean energy, and promoting peace and security among the three nations.
This was echoed by Biden who noted that the three nations “have made historic progress” since the Trilateral Summit in April last year “especially in maritime security, economic security, and technology cooperation.”
Ishiba agreed that it is important “to deepen trilateral cooperation in a variety of fields.”
