President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Geraldine Faith Abracia Econg as the new presiding justice of the anti-graft court.
Econg will replace Amparo M. Cabotaje-Tang who officially retired from the judiciary in November last year.
Econg was first appointed to the Sandiganbayan in January 2016 where she chaired the anti-graft court’s Second Division. She is expected to retire in August 2037.
She was also among the nominees for the position of Supreme Court justice in 2021. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
