MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos and his officials will tackle the administration’s key projects at the first full Cabinet meeting of the year to be held next week.
Presidential Communications Secretary Cesar Chavez said the meeting would take place on Jan. 7 and will tackle “legacy projects,” including those that are classified as big-ticket and funded with official development assistance,.
Marcos yesterday compared notes with Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, including the agenda for the Cabinet meeting, according to Chavez.
Marcos also attended private meetings during the first day of work for this year.
The President holds weekly meetings with members of the Cabinet, most of them involving specific clusters.
He also meets frequently with the Private Sector Advisory Council, which presents recommendations on various policies related to the economy.
Last year, Marcos presided over two full Cabinet meetings, two special meetings and 49 sectoral meetings.
Chavez also revealed that the vin d’honneur, or the traditional New Year reception, would be held on Jan. 11.
Vin d’honneur, which means “wine of honor,” is an official reception hosted by the President at Malacañang and attended by the diplomatic corps, government officials, lawmakers, members of the judiciary and the business sector. It usually celebrates the New Year and Independence Day.
During last year’s Independence Day reception, Marcos emphasized the importance of the rule of law and rules-based international order, as well as bilateral, regional and multilateral engagements.
He also highlighted the Philippines’ economic accomplishments and its efforts to address the impact of inflation.
