President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Sunday called on Filipinos to be disciplined, love one’s country and to strive for greatness as part of their New Year’s resolution for 2025.

(We need the cooperation of every citizen for the projects and programs of the government. Filipinos facing new challenges need to embody new ideas and behavior. The new Filipino is disciplined, capable and most of all, loves the country and our countrymen. I hope we live by these characteristics this new year since there can be no new Philippines if Filipinos remain unchanged.)

Going into detail, Marcos said discipline can start from one’s self, at home, and even in the community by limiting time spent on gadgets and gossip, obeying traffic rules, and disposing garbage properly.

For his own New Year resolution, the President said he would take better care of his health.

Marcos added that he would also give more support to Filipinos so they could display their talents on the global stage.

In striving for greatness, Marcos urged Filipinos not to settle for mediocrity and to welcome new knowledge, such as learning technology.

Meanwhile, Marcos said a person’s actions do not have to be grand to show patriotism, as Filipinos can start by doing their part at home and in the community, such as helping out in school.

“Yung mga maliliit na bagay, napakalaking bagay yan pag pinagsama-sama mo lahat ng Pilipino na pare-pareho ang asal tungkol dyan sa ating pagmamahal sa Pilipinas,” the President said.

(Small deeds become greater if Filipinos work together to achieve them and done for the love of our country.)
