PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s virtual meeting with US President Joe Biden and Japan Prime Minister Shigeru Ishida has been reset for today, Jan. 13.
In a text message to reporters, acting Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cesar Chavez said the rescheduling of the Trilateral Leaders Phone Call, originally set for Sunday, was requested by Biden “due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.”
Chavez did not disclose the exact time the meeting will take place or what matters will be taken up.
The meeting comes after the US-Philippines-Japan summit in Washington in April last year, where Biden, Marcos and then-Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida discussed several issues including enhancing coordination to promote maritime domain awareness and deepening cooperation on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
Biden and Kishida assured their governments’ support for the Philippines’ quest to achieve upper middle-income country status.
