Some 250 baby sea turtles or hatchlings were released into the waters of Batangas and Quezon on Thursday, the Philippine Coast Guard – Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog (CGDSTL) said.
In the waters of Barangay Puting Buhangin in San Juan, Batangas, 158 baby sea turtles were successfully released.
Meanwhile, 98 baby sea turtles were also simultaneously released in the waters of Barangay Bignaydos in Sariaya, Quezon.
The activities, part of marine life conservation efforts, were led by the 512th Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadron and participated in by the CGDSTL.
Collaborative efforts were also done by the Coast Guard Station Batangas, Coast Guard Sub Station San Juan, CGDSTL Veterinary and Dental Services, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources San Juan, De La Salle Lipa, and local communities, the CGDSTL added. —KG, GMA Integrated News
