A TOTAL of P361 million in cash has been distributed by the National Housing Authority (NHA) to Filipino families affected by calamities in 2024, its general manager (GM) said on Monday.

NHA GM Joeben Tai, in a statement emailed to The Manila Times, said that the amount was released through the agency’s Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP).

“The NHA is one with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s commitment to aiding the housing needs of Filipino families through our various programs and services,” the Housing official said.

Under EHAP, the NHA provides financial assistance to identified families affected by calamities such as typhoons, fires, earthquakes, and floods.

The program aims to help the beneficiaries start anew by rebuilding their houses, it added.

Meanwhile, the agency, through its regional office in Davao Region, distributed EHAP as a year-end gift to 35 fire-victim families from Tarragona and two families from the town of Lupon in Davao Oriental.

Acting NHA District 2 head Gerold Namoc personally distributed the cash assistance of P10,000 per family.

Tai also said that his agency has just turned over housing units to 23 Sibugaynon families in a ceremony held in Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay, over the weekend.

Built under the collaboration between the NHA and the local government of Imelda, the shelters were part of the 55-unit San Jose Village Resettlement Housing Project, he said.

The NHA officials have assured the community that funding for the remaining units is a top priority as part of the agency’s commitment to addressing the housing needs of underserved Filipino families.
