The majority of Filipinos still consider health and inflation as their top concerns, according to recent survey results released by OCTA Research.
These are based on the results of the 4th Quarter 2024 Tugon ng Masa (TNM) nationwide survey released by OCTA Research on Sunday.
According to the survey, 56% of adult Filipinos consider controlling the price of basic goods and commodities as the top national concern.

After inflation, 44% of Filipinos are concerned about access to affordable food, improving/increasing wages or salaries (36%), reducing poverty (34%) and job creation (29%).
Meanwhile for national concerns, OCTA said 56% of adult Filipinos believe controlling the increase in prices of basic goods and services as their top concern. This figure saw a decrease from 66% in August of last year.
The same poll showed that Pinoys are more concerned with access to affordable food, judging by the five percentage points increase (39% to 44%).
Meanwhile, concerns in raising wages or salaries slightly declined from 39% to 36%. Concerns about creating more jobs declined by four percentage points to 29%.
Noteworthy results showed that across major areas, staying healthy and avoiding illness is notably high in Balance Luzon (79%).
In education, OCTA said the survey revealed that “finishing school or being able to provide schooling for their children is a significant concern for adult Filipinos in Balance Luzon (57%) and Mindanao (55%) while having enough to eat daily is a pressing personal concern in Visayas (60%).
“Among socioeconomic classes, 73% of adult Filipinos in Class D prioritize staying healthy and avoiding illness. Having enough to eat daily is a priority for 52% of adult Filipinos in Class D, while having savings is an urgent personal concern for 54% of adult Filipinos in Class ABC,” OCTA added.
OCTA Research said the survey fieldwork was conducted using face-to-face interviews from November 10 to 16, 2024. A total of 1,200 male and female respondents aged 18 and above were interviewed for the study.
The survey has a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level. Subnational estimates for the geographic areas covered in the survey have the following margins of error at a 95% confidence level: ±6% for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. —RF, GMA Integrated News
