MANILA, Philippines — Dried marijuana leaves with an estimated street value of P8.76 million were found in an abandoned vehicle in Santol, La Union on Monday.

The vehicle was found parked along the road in Barangay Sasaba, according to Joel Plaza, chief of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Ilocos.

Plaza said the van had two men on board, identified as Felmen Aliles Jr. and Amado Pacyao, who escaped after sensing they were being followed by authorities.

Meanwhile, shabu with an estimated street value of P1.36 million was seized during a sting in Siniloan, Laguna on Monday afternoon.

Police said the illegal substance was seized from the suspect, identified as alias Marvin, in Barangay Wawa.

The suspect was arrested after allegedly accepting P11,000 in marked money from an undercover police officer.

Police said charges were being readied against the suspect.
