Filipinos continued to flock to seaports on Friday after the New Year holidays, with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) saying outbound passengers numbered more than 190,000, and inbound passengers more than 187,000.

In a social media post on Saturday, the PCG said it monitored 192,981 outbound passengers and 187,757 inbound passengers in all ports nationwide on January 3.

The PCG also said it deployed 2,989 frontline personnel in 16 PCG districts.

A total of 1,745 vessels and 2,156 motorbancas were also inspected by PCG personnel.

The PCG was on heightened alert from December 20, 2024 to January 3, 2025 to monitor the influx of passengers at the country’s seaports.

The agency said the public may contact the PCG for inquiries, concerns and clarifications during the holiday season via its official Facebook page or the Coast Guard Public Affairs Service (0927-560-7729).
