AGODA, a digital travel site, has published its top 10 list of Asia’s most pet-friendly travel locations.
Vietnam dominated the list, which is based on the average number of pet-friendly accommodations, taking four of the 10 spots.
Da Nang (Vietnam) is on top of the list, followed by Cebu (Philippines), Hanoi (Vietnam), Nha Trang (Vietnam), and Tainan (Taiwan).
The top 10 destinations also include Pattaya (Thailand), Taichung (Taiwan), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), New Delhi (India), and Manila (Philippines).
According to a recent Allied Market Research report, pet travel has surged in Asia, with Millennials and Gen Z leading the way as they embrace pet parenthood and spend on their pets.
Last year, Agoda saw a 64-percent increase in pet-friendly accommodations, making it easier than ever for pets to accompany their owners on holiday experiences.
“Our latest ranking of pet-friendly cities is a testament to our commitment to making travel inclusive for everyone, including our four-legged friends,” Agoda Country Director for Vietnam Lam Vu said.
In a brief interview with The Manila Times, animal welfare advocate and Miss Universe Philippines-Manila 2024 Ysabel Macuja characterized being pet-friendly as more than simply admitting pets inside establishments. It also means creating an environment in which animals are really cared for and valued.
“Growing up in Manila, I see the city evolving to become more pet-friendly, like malls and cafes, and have started welcoming pets, which is a great step forward,” Macuja said.
“A pet-friendly community prioritizes safe spaces for animals and encourages responsible pet ownership,” she said.
