THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Thursday the opening of a Philippine Consulate in Szczecin.

Philippine Ambassador to Poland Leah Basinang-Ruiz led the consulate’s inauguration at the Business Club Szczecin on Dec. 20, 2024.

Szczecin, the capital and largest city of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, is approximately 566 kilometers from Warsaw.

The consulate is the Philippines’ first diplomatic post in Poland’s northwestern and mid-northern regions since diplomatic relations were established between the two nations on Sept. 22, 1973.

The new Philippine Consulate at Moniuszki 5/1, 71-430 Szczecin, operates Monday to Friday (except on public holidays) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
