THE Philippine National Police (PNP) Internal Affairs Service has conducted a surprise drug test among its personnel.
Inspector General Brigido Dulay said the tests, conducted by the PNP Forensics Group, was in compliance with Republic Act 8551, or the PNP Reform and Reorganization Act that mandates regular and unannounced drug tests among PNP personnel.
“This initiative underscores Internal Affairs Service’s unwavering commitment to fostering integrity and accountability within its ranks,” Dulay added.
“At the Internal Affairs Service, we do not merely enforce the rules — we live by them. This program demonstrates our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of integrity. It assures both the public and the PNP leadership that we are steadfast in upholding the principles we expect from the entire police force,” he said.
The drug screening, conducted among 130 personnel regardless of rank or position, was completed within half a day. Only specimens were collected with results to be released in the coming days.
An independent and autonomous unit, the Internal Affairs Service investigates complaints against police officers and recommends measures for professionalization and discipline.
