Bus terminals, seaports, and airport expect an influx of passengers starting Friday as work and classes resume after the long holiday break.
In Bulan Integrated Terminal in Sorsogon, the number of buses heading to Metro Manila has already doubled, according to a report on Unang Balita.
The management said up to 10 buses are now accommodating passengers at the terminal, which are higher compared to regular operations.
More passengers are expected to arrive in the next few days.
In Batangas, Philippine Ports Authority Port Management Office (PPA PMO) Batangas port manager Joselito Sinocruz said around 200,000 passengers have left the seaport from December 20 to 31.
However, only 32,000 passengers have returned to Batangas Port from January 1 to 2. Due to this, Sinocruz said the seaport is expecting more passengers until Monday.
“Mula po ngayong araw hanggang sa maagang-maaga po ng Lunes. Iyan po ang inaasahan natin (na peak),” Sinocruz told Unang Balita in an interview.
(We expect the number of passengers to peak from today until early morning of Monday.)
Meanwhile, Sinocruz said a “fixer” who told passengers that they would be allowed to cut in line in exchange for money was arrested in Batangas Port on December 23.
At Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City, around 620,000 more passengers are expected to flock from Friday to Sunday.
“Kung ito-total po natin ‘yan from December 15 until yesterday, around 2.8 million na po ang nakabiyahe sa ating paliparan (From December 15 until yesterday, around 2.8 million passengers used the airport),” Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) head executive assistant Manuel Jeffrey David told Unang Balita in a separate interview.
“Yung forecast po natin, moving forward, from today to January 5, we’re still expecting around 620,00 passengers po on an average of 150,000 per day,” he added.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
