THE Quezon City Performing Arts Development Foundation Inc. Concert Chorus bagged two titles at the 13th World Choir Games in New Zealand.
Led by Nicanor Infante, the choir won first place in the mixed chamber choirs category with its rendition of “Rytmus,” “Tinig ng Lupa,” “O Jesu Christe” and “Mate Saule.”
The Filipino choir, with 93 points, shared the top spot with choirs from Switzerland, India, Australia and the United States.
It also finished first in the sacred choral music with accompaniment category with its rendition of “Jauchzet dem Herrn,” “Lamentations of Jeremiah,” “Motet” and “Crucifixus.”
Other Philippine choirs that joined the contest were the Miriam College High School Glee Club, the Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion Chorale, and the Mariano Marcos State University-Nasudi Chorale.
Around 11,000 singers from 30 countries competed in the World Choir Games from July 10 to 20 in Auckland.
