The Philippine Coast Guard rescued two persons from a capsized fishing banca in Mati City, Davao Oriental on Monday.
According to a statement on Tuesday, the banca reportedly capsized due to a sudden change of weight after unloading another motor banca or pakura around 9 a.m.
The banca’s crew was immediately rescued and given medical attention.
Meanwhile, the Coast Guard deployed absorbent pads at the scene to control minor spillage from the capsized vessel.
“This swift response prevented any further environmental damage and ensured that the incident was brought under control quickly and efficiently,” the PCG said. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/RF, GMA Integrated News
