MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte asked for her family’s safety as she thanked those who wanted to volunteer for her security.

Duterte, in a statement, decried the removal of 75 policemen from her security detail as “political harassment” although she said that she had no problem with it and that supporters should “not worry about me.” She said in Filipino that what she asked was for the “safety of my family.” “Do not allow violence in whatever form against my mother, husband and four children be it personal or on the internet. And if ever, do not let anyone who will do harm to them slide,” she said.
