Sen. Bong Go on Monday urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) to avoid politics and uphold professionalism.
Go issued the statement following the removal of the 75-member security detail consisting of personnel from the PNP Protection and Security Group from the Office of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Duterte said the move was a clear case of political harassment. In an open letter posted on Facebook, the vice president accused the PNP leadership of disseminating false narratives on the security pullout.

“As I mentioned to the Department of Social Welfare and Development during an aid distribution on the current actions of the police: Let’s not be selective. Let’s not mix politics into it. Let’s do what is right without favoritism or bias,” said Go, vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Order.
“My constant advice to the police is to be professional and always do what is right — protect the lives of every Filipino and fulfill their duties according to the law. Our law enforcement officers should remain professional and faithful to their sworn duties for the sake of our nation,” he added.
Go said his support for the PNP remained unwavering.
“Nevertheless, I have consistently stood by our uniformed personnel from the past until now. As a legislator, I continue to fight for the rights and well-being of police officers who remain dedicated to their duties,” he said.
