Angeli Khang and Robb Guinto express their hope that other Vivamax stars will have opportunities to crossover into mainstream cinema, following their success with the film Unang Tikim. This movie is Vivamax’s latest release and marks the platform’s first title to be screened in commercial theaters nationwide
Angeli, who has also ventured into television with a role in GMA’s Black Rider, shared her amazement at their achievements.
“It’s hard to believe that after our hard work, we’re here now and are allowed to reach a wider audience on the big screen,” Angeli said. “Vivamax has its own dedicated audience, but being on the big screen offers an entirely different experience for actors aspiring to make it big in showbiz. We are truly thankful.”
In an interview with Manila Standard Entertainment, Angeli and Robb discussed the challenges of performing intimate scenes. They revealed that while the scenes were new and challenging, they navigated them smoothly due to their strong friendship.
“We’re friends and can easily discuss how we’d approach the intimate scenes,” Robb noted.
Angeli added that she feels more comfortable performing sexy scenes with another woman.
“It’s easier to communicate our boundaries and limitations, and since we’re both women, it feels natural to discuss these things openly,” she explained.
In Unang Tikim, Angeli is Yuna and Robb is Becca. The two are madly in love with each other. They are each other’s first—first touch, first kiss, first sexual experience. It seems like nothing can break them apart until Becca is forced to migrate to the U.S. to be with her family.
Between the two, Becca is the lipstick lesbian. She’s also an artist and an introvert. When she loves, she gives her all. Meanwhile, Yuna is bisexual. She looks innocent but is aggressive when it comes to lovemaking. She is generally supportive and caring to people she loves, but it turns out that she cannot stand a long-distance relationship.
Nicco (Matt Francisco), Yuna’s boss, likes her so much and makes a way to get close to her while she is in a long-distance relationship with Becca. He eventually wins her heart when the girlfriends mutually decide to break up.
Four years later, Yuna is now engaged to be married to Nicco. Becca, now a professional photographer in the U.S., returns to the Philippines to complete her dream photo exhibit. She has a new lover, Trisha (Christy Imperial). Destiny makes their paths cross again, and both realize that they are still in love with each other.
Unang Tikim, directed by Roman Perez Jr., also stars Susan Africa. The film premieres today in cinemas nationwide.
