Bacolod Rum Festival honors Tanduay’s 170th year

In celebration of its 170th anniversary, Tanduay Distillers Inc. will bring back the Tanduay Bacolod Rum Festival for its fourth year in collaboration with the city of Bacolod. Serving as a jam-packed celebration filled with food, music, and competitions, the festival is one of the most highly anticipated events in the city province.

Kicking off the nine-day festival on Aug. 10 is a motorcade followed by a ceremony that will see the official opening of The Food Park at the Bacolod City Government Center Complex. For the rest of the festival, a Rum and Music Night will be held at The Food Park.

On Aug. 12, the elimination round of the Mixology & Flairtending Competition will be conducted at the Activity Center in Ayala Malls Capitol Central. A Culinaria Competition will be held in participating restaurants on Aug. 14 and 15. With Aug. 16 serving as Rum Education Day, a Distillery Tour will commence at the Tanduay Manufacturing Plant in Murcia while a Rum Masterclass and the grand finals of the Mixology &Flairtending Competition will be held at the Seda Capitol Central.

Serving as the most eventful day of the festival, Aug. 17 will see the motorcade of Tanduay Ambassadors and other special guests along with the Parade and Street Dance competitions. Therewill also be a thanksgiving dinner, a festival concert, an awarding ceremony for the winners of the competitions, and an after-party. The festival concert will feature performances from some of the top OPM acts such as Juan Karlos and ALLMO$T.

President and CEO of Tanduay Distillers Inc. Lucio Tan III expressed how the event not only serves as a commemoration of Bacolod’s rich culinary heritage but also Tanduay’s milestone of being declared as the world’s best-selling rum for the 7th consecutive year.

“We are happy and proud to be able to retain the world’s number one rum title and we owe this milestone to our loyal and new consumers alike,” said Tan during the media conference for the event.

Bacolod City Councilor Em Ang shared how the rum festival is one of the biggest festivals in the province of Negros Occidental and how it has significantly contributed to the growth of its local tourism.
