Blackpink World Tour receives PG rating

Filipino and foreign fans of the iconic Korean pop girl group Blackpink will surely experience fun and thrill as the group’s concert earns a PG (Parental Guidance) rating from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

A PG classification advises parents or supervising adults that the film may contain themes, language, violence, nudity, sex, and horror, whose treatment is suitable for children below 13 years of age, provided that children of said age are accompanied by supervising adults. The review committee that decided on the rating comprised board members Antonio Reyes, Racquel Maria Cruz, and Lillian Ng Gui.

Similarly, the animated film “Bluelock: Episode Nagi,” distributed by Pioneer Films, has also been given a PG rating. The review panel for this was BM Gui, Reyes and Robert “Bobby” Andrews Jr., who explained that the material contains minimal and non-graphic depictions of violence and suffering that require parental supervision and guidance.

In addition, Warner Bros. (F.E.) Inc. film “Trap,” starring Josh Hartnett, received an R-13 rating. The committee, led by JoAnn Bañaga, Angel Jamias, and Neal del Rosario, pointed out that the film contains psychological aspects that may not be suitable for children below 13 years of age.

Similarly, a local production by VIVA Communications Inc., starring Sue Ramirez, Barbie Imperial, and Phi Palmos, received an R-13 rating. The review committee, composed of Richard John Reynoso, Jan Marini Alano, and Katrina Angela Ebarle, noted that the movie contains brief and infrequent depictions of drugs or their use, depictions of horror, frightening scenes, occasional gore, infrequent, brief, and non-graphic depictions of sexual activity, infrequent and non-graphic depictions of violence and suffering, mature themes, moderate swear words, and menacing language.

Meanwhile, the film “Consumed,” distributed by Pioneer Films, earned an R-16 rating, which restricts viewership to those aged 16 and above. Board members Reynoso, Cruz, and Wilma Galvante, who reviewed the film, cited that it contains discreet nudity, graphic but non-gratuitous depictions of horror, frightening scenes, violence, and gore.

MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio advised parents and guardians that they still need to guide children below the age restrictions and become responsible viewers who will set a good example for the younger generations.
