THE “Young Guns” of the 19th Congress are launching a television program that would showcase their youthful vigor and innovative leadership while showcasing the beauty of their respective districts.
“Young Guns on the Move” TV series will showcase the young lawmakers’ initiatives and accomplishments while providing insight into the support and services available to their constituents.
It will also promote the unique attractions in the districts and feature culinary delights and local enterprises that define the localities.
In a press briefing for the launch of the show that airs on August 8 on state broadcaster PTV and its digital sub-channel Congress TV, Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong said that the series is “educational” in a way where they will see different sites in the country and learn so from the experiences of their fellow lawmakers.
“I think it’s one of the best practices that all of us should follow. So, for me, our trips in ‘Young Guns on the Move’ is not only to see locations, visit the different sites of the Philippines, but it’s also educational,” Adiong said.
For Pwersa ng Bayaning Atleta Rep. Margarita Ignacia Nograles, the show also strengthened their bond as lawmakers as they were able to work faster and talk about their own shared goals in pushing legislation and projects.
“It is not just showcasing that we are the next generation leaders… but it’s also to inspire the young ones, especially those aspiring to be the next future leaders,” Nograles said.
Meanwhile, La Union Rep. Francisco Paolo Ortega said that the show would showcase the serious work of legislation that their group has been doing, as well as how they enjoy themselves in the areas where they visit.
It is not always about legislation, but the good thing that we are doing is that this is not just tourism-based, but this is also economy-based, and, of course, we are showcasing the Philippines to the world,” Ortega said.
“It is really pushing the House of Representatives forward to the next level using that kind of potential in order to project a house of the people which is really relatable to the young people for the next generation,” Adiong said.
Young Guns “Roadshow manager” and Deputy Speaker David Suarez added that the visits of the lawmakers to different provinces will enable the young lawmakers to enact “better legislation and better laws for the country.”
