The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has recorded more than 5 million new voters, expecting more to apply with still less than two months before the voting registration ends.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia said that at present, there are 65,943,899 registered voters nationwide.
He said the total number of applications reached 5,011,815, where 2,590,813 new voters are female while 2,421,002 are male.
The poll chief said the number will still increase because the deadline is on September 30.
The highest number of new voters were recorded in Calabarzon with 833,812 new voters, while the National Capital Region came in second with 669,372.
Meanwhile, the total number of deactivated voters reached 5,269,292 voters, while the total number of deleted voters was recorded at 579,720.
Eligible voters can register at the office of the election officer or satellite registration office in their area from Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
