The National Amnesty Commission (NAC) on Sunday reported that the Local Amnesty Board (LAB) in Cagayan de Oro (CDO) City joined the 3rd Full Council Meeting of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) – 10 as a regular member.
The LAB Secretariat presented key updates from the NAC that includes the locations of the ten (10) new LABs to be established pursuant to NAC Resolution 04-2024, the composition of LAB members, the application procedure, and the engagements of LAB CDO with various Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) brigades and battalions in Bukidnon, Lanao del Sur, and Misamis Oriental.
The LAB Secretariat also provided current data on the applications received and their respective stages in the amnesty process based on the NAC’s Rules of Procedure.
The presentation concluded with a summary of the next steps, which primarily involve intensifying information campaigns, collaborating with various government agencies to expedite the vetting process, and establishing a permanent office space.
Regional Prosecutor Merlynn Barola-Uy, the LAB CDO Chairman, was also present to address queries from the RPOC members and explain the details of the application process.
The RPOC-10, chaired by Governor Xavier Jesus D. Romualdo of Camiguin Province, includes among its members the Provincial Governors, City and Municipal Mayors, the Commanding Generals of the 4ID and 1ID of the AFP, the Regional Director of the PNP, Heads of Regional Line Agencies, and Civil Society Organizations in Region 10.
