The Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing has declared two more villages in Taguig City as drug-cleared communities.

Barangays Napindan and North Daang Hari were added to the city’s list of drug-cleared villages, bringing the total number to 19.

The committee made the declaration last week following its second deliberation held at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig Auditorium, attended by officials from the Taguig City Police Station and the Taguig Anti-Drug Abuse Office (TADAO), led by its chief Hilario Cruz.

The oversight committee comprises the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Department of Interior and Local Government, the National Police, and the Department of Health.

The drug-cleared status is given to those barangays previously considered drug-affected due to the presence of drug pushers and dependents, and drug dens.

The other villages declared drug-cleared were Barangays San Miguel, East Rembo, Post Proper Northside, Pitogo, South Rembo, Post Proper Southside, Katuparan, Bambang, Calzada-Tipas, South Daang Hari, South Signal, Central Signal, Ligid-Tipas, and Sta. Ana, Fort Bonifacio, North Signal, and Ibayo-Tipas.

These areas have successfully addressed drug issues through verified efforts and campaigns based on the parameters set forth by the Dangerous Drugs Board.

Under the leadership of Mayor Laarni Cayetano, Taguig City has intensified its fight against illegal drugs with comprehensive programs aimed at educating and engaging its communities.

The local government conducts drug abuse prevention seminars, implements mandatory drug tests for government employees, and enforces a one-strike policy.

These showed the city’s commitment to creating a drug-free environment, leading to the successful declaration of the 19 barangays as drug-cleared.
