Alma Concepcion has urged people dealing with depression to seek professional help.

On Monday’s episode of “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda,” the Binibining Pilipinas International 1994 opened up about suffering from depression in the past, and advocated for mental health.

“Don’t do what I did, suffer without medication,” Alma said. She recommended taking medication “because you will just waste days and hours of your life.”

“So I always tell them, ‘huwag mo nang palalain ‘yan’,” Concepcion added and urged people to get help.

Alma was crowned Binibining Pilipinas International in 1994. During her pageant stint, she competed against Charlene Gonzales, who was crowned the Binibining Pilipinas Universe. She placed Top 15 at the Miss International pageant later that year.

The beauty queen turned actress last starred in the Kapuso series “The Write One” with Ruru Madrid and Bianca Umali.

She also appeared in “False Positive” in 2022 alongside Herlene Budol, Glaiza De Castro and Xian Lim.

The Philippines has several mental health hotlines and services. These include: DOH-NCMH Hotline: 0917-899-8727 or 02-7989-8727; Natasha Goulbourn Foundation Hopeline: 0917-558-4673, 0918-873-4673 and 02-8804-4673; and In Touch Crisis Line: 0917-800-1123, 0922-893-8944 and 02-8893-7603.
