Members of the Philippine Olympic centennial team are on their way home after a historic campaign in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Philippine delegation is on a chartered Philippine Airlines flight from Dubai.
Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino shared photos of the delegation, including Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo, who is set to return to Manila days after his double Olympic gold medal run.
Yulo ruled both of his signature events, floor exercise and vault, to become the first male Filipino athlete to win a gold medal in the Summer Games. He also became one of only four Filipino Olympians to win two medals in the biggest sporting event.
Aside from Yulo, boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas, who took home a bronze medal each, are also set for a homecoming along with fellow boxers Eumir Marcial, Hergie Bacyadan, and Carlo Paalam and hurdlers Lauren Hoffman and John Cabang Tolentino, as seen in a photo posted by the Presidential Communications Office.
Some other Olympians who competed in Paris are expected to be part of the delegation as well.
The Philippines had its best campaign in the Olympics yet as its athletes brought home a total of two gold medals and two bronze medals.
