Singer and actor Darren Espanto has given an update about his condition after being discharged from the hospital following an appendicitis attack after returning from Los Angeles.
In a post on Instagram, Espanto shared a few photos from his time in the hospital and recounted how he ended up there in the first place.
Espanto revealed that he woke up on the plane from Los Angeles to Manila with pain in his stomach.
After landing four hours later, the pain worsened. Once it became unbearable, he asked to be taken to the hospital, where he immediately underwent a CT scan.
“[I] found out I had appendicitis and had to get an appendectomy immediately. Thankfully, my appendix hadn’t ruptured yet. [I] went to our doctor at St. Luke’s, and I had a laparoscopy—all within 5 hours of everything happening,” Espanto explained in his post’s caption.
The performer expressed his gratitude to his family and friends who visited him and gave him gifts. He also shared his appreciation for his fans, Darrenatics, who made him feel loved throughout the ordeal.
Espanto apologized for canceling some of his commitments but hopes to get back to work as soon as he can.
Due to the ordeal, Star Magic announced the cancellation of Espanto’s performance at the Tandaya Festival 2024 Samar Day Celebration on Aug. 11.
